If a guy was wearing Goldstar shoes and had a backpack, he was Maoist,” Rana adds.

Due to the fear of landing in prison people stopped wearing Goldstar shoes. Goldstar first faced a major decline in sales of shoes during this period. The company didn’t perform well as expected but Noor didn’t lose faith in him.This eventually led the company to rise to its height as now it stands as the largest retailer of footwear in Nepal.  Noor died at the age of 78 due to chest pain leaving his empire solely to his son Amir Pratap Thapa.
