First, a consumer will make a purchase on a business’ website. That order will automatically sync with Shippo so that the operations team can manage the order and print the shipping label plus any necessary documentation. Once the order is fulfilled, that information is synced back to the business’ e-commerce platform.

Users are also able to customize their shipping process, sending personalized tracking information via email, creating return labels, and more.If further customization is required, users can also access Shippo’s API to meet their unique needs.

How does Shippo make money?

The company currently process millions of shipments every month. As an e-commerce shipping software, Shippo makes money from every package it dispatches. Likewise, it charges clients either a per label fee or a flat fee for a given number of shipments.

Furthermore, one of the best policy about shippo is that it only makes money when you make money. The service charges customers a flat 5 cents for every label that you create. In case of order cancellations, Shippo offers to refund this money back automatically.

According to the CrunchBase report, Shippo has raised a total of $29.3M in funding over 8 rounds. Their latest funding was raised from a Series B round on Oct 31, 2017. More than 16+ investors funded in Shippo. Union Square Ventures and Uncork Capital are the most recent investors.  

On the other hand, Shippo works closely with eBay, Ipsy and over 35,000 other customers to make e-commerce logistics more efficient for businesses. Co-founders Laura Behrens Wu and Simon Kreuz both were part of Forbes’ 30 Under 30 2017 Enterprise Technology list.
